According to the Central Bureau of Statistics of Nepal, the total population was recorded to be about 26.62 million and comprises of about 125 ethnic groups speaking over 123 different languages. But Nepali is the official language of the state, spoken and understood by majority of population. English is spoken by many government and business offices. It is the mode of education in schools.
